47Greetings and Salutations!
Hello there, you! If you have come to this page looking for crocheting talk and help, you are in the right place!
The first lesson is going to be "How to start a crochet project". Now, I am going to assume that you want to make something flat, to start with. Okay? Okay.
The first thing that you want to do is make a slipknot (you know, half of a bow). You will slip this over the tip of your crochet hook and slide it down about midway between the head of the hook and the finger-rest part.
Step 2: Now what you want to do is grasp the yarn with the 'hook' part of your crochet hook, and draw it *through* the slipknot. See? Now you have a closed loop and, coming out of that, a half-open loop.
Step 3: Slip that half-open loop over the head of your crochet hook, just as you did the first link in this 'chain' that you're making, and repeat Step 2. At the end of this step, you should have 2 closed loops joined together like a chain and hanging off of the 1 half-open loop that is still on the head of your hook.
Make sense? If not, there will be pictures of this process up soon, or you can email me :-)
Good luck, and happy crocheting! See you soon!
